How Rico Smith went from sleeping in the backseat of his car to selling over $100 Million in Real Estate.
Growing up was tough. It was unusual, and I saw a lot of things you wouldn’t normally see at a young age.
I’ll go ahead and tell you this. My mom was in the streets and my father did 10 years in the penitentiary.
This was a difficult time for me.
Luckily, I was able to be raised by my grandmothers and grandfather.
This led me to discover self development books at an early age…around 11-13 years old. I started reading Bob Proctor, Napoleon Hill, Les Brown, Robert Kiyosaki…these guys taught me about the subconscious mind and how to create wealth in real estate.
I decided early on that real estate would be the vehicle I use to help my mom and dad, so my family wouldn’t have to suffer anymore!
As I got older, I ended up getting into college, but dropped out after the first year. I knew there was more money to be made in real estate and that was my path.
But again I had to struggle, and I went back to live with grandfather.
My Grandfather, Eddie Walker
This was a hard time. 3 years exactly. At times I had to sleep in the back seat of my car.
I struggled for 3 years to get my first deal.
I knew I was working towards real estate riches. Many people around me doubted me and some folks even laughed at me for sleeping in my car. But I didn’t let it bother me.
I knew where I was heading and was going to do whatever it took to get me there.
Then, after struggling for 3 years, I discovered a magical system. This is when everything changed for me.
In 2012 I sold my KIA (the one I slept in) and purchased a BMW
I started generating more leads and closing deals consistently. I was making more money than ever before and people started to take notice.
Relentless Hustle With Bandit Signs
After being asked numerous times by people to coach them in real estate, I began teaching at the University of Memphis.
My coaching program was growing and everything was on the up-and-up. That’s when it happened…
When we make money we are supposed to spend time with our family.
Are we just here about the money?
No, really. I’m asking you.
Are we really here just about the money?
When you really look at it, the money you make, you are either supposed to go help, support, or spend time with your family… and I’m going hard on this because I was affected by this.
My grandfather was killed in a carjacking.
I did not get that time.
So I don’t won’t anybody else to go through that turmoil.
My grandad would call me every other day.
“Hey grandson, how you doing? What you doing man? You still ain’t came to see me. You always talking about how you are busy.”
I said, “Grand dad, I gotta go look at this house.”
Does that make sense?
I didn’t put my phone down to go sit down with my grandad so he could look at me. That’s all he wanted to do!
But then I get a phonecall late night that my grandfather was just shot in his stomach and he’s dying.
but all that time…
…that makes me look crazy because all the stuff that I’m doing makes it look like I’m doing it for nothing!
Does that make sense?
Some of you all may be in that situation..
You may have relative in that lower income area.
You’re just dying to help them out. You want to move them out of that situation.
…and you can! You really can!
But you gotta understand what’s important…
Do I wanna get this money or do I need to spend time with my family?
…or go to my family to create a plan to see how I can help them…
Do that y’all.
Or that time will be cut short…
I got the call one night and went over to my grandfathers house. Everyone had already left to go to the hospital.
Two men had attempted to carjack and rob my grandfather outside of his home. They shot him several times and left him for dead.
My Grandfather’s Home
We watched him fight for his life that night in the ER… but he didn’t make it.
After seeing my grandfather die, I was left with two choices: either go crazy or take charge – because now I became the man of my family – and if I didn’t step up, my parents would suffer.
This was when I decided to take my coaching program online and help more people all across the United States learn the ins and outs of wholesale real estate and self development.
